auctions or classifieds, you must be a registered user of Auctionaddict.com .

Finding an Item
From the homepage, you can
see a list of our top level categories. Clicking on the category
with your mouse will bring up a page showing the listings in that category, as
well as clickable subcategories. In addition, look for our search box at the top of most
pages. You can use our search engine to quickly find items by keyword, seller, or geographic location.
Listing Types
At Auctionaddict.com we have two types of listings: Auctions and Fixed-Price (classified ads) items.
Auction items are bid progressively higher upon, and are sold to the highest bidder(s) when the listing closes.
Fixed price listings are just like traditional classified advertisements. Buyers do not "bid" on fixed-price items, they order them
directly from the seller at the price he/she specified. When a buyer orders an item from a fixed price listing page, both buyer and seller are
immediately notified via-email.
listings remain "open" between 1 and 14 days (chosen by the seller) or may exist in an "ongoing" format.
Ongoing listings close when there have been no successful bids
within the 24 hour period preceeding the listing's posted closing date
and time. If a bid/order is placed within 24 hours of the listings end date
and time, the listings closing date will be extended 24 hours from
the last bid/order. This feature makes your listing more like a "real world"
one; i.e. as long as people continue to bid/order your item the item
will not close (and make you more money). All listings
end at Eastern time on the day and time specified on the listing page. Please be aware that this time is relative to that which our server
keeps, and is conveniently displayed at the top of every page.
Understanding the Auction Formats
Auction listings are further subdivided into two different types:
a single item format, and a multiple quantity
(sometimes referred to as "yankee" auction).
example - Let's say an item has just been posted and has a starting bid price of $100 . The least amount of money you are allowed to bid is $100.00. However, it is to your advantage to bid the most you are willing to pay. So, let's say "Aaron" put in a maximum bid of $150.00. Aaron will become the high bidder with a "visible" bid of $100.00 (If the auction then ended before other bids were placed he would only have to pay $100.00). Now, let's say "Naomi" comes along and places a maximum bid of $130.00 for the same item. Because "Aaron" has already placed a higher maximum bid, he will immediately become the highest bidder again with a bid price of $131.00 ($130 plus $1.00 which is the minimum increase value at this price), and Naomi is outbid. Now let's say "Leny" comes along and places a maximum bid of $175.00 on the item. Leny becomes the highest bidder with a successful bid price of $151.00, and Aaron has been outbid. If the auction then ends, "Leny" would only have to pay the seller $151.00 (and not her maximum bid of $175).
example - Let's say there are 5 "widgets" for sale and the starting bid price is $50. "Manny" bids $50 on a quantity of 2, "Henry" bids $52 on a quantity of 2, "Arielle" bids $52 on a quantity of 3 and "Heidi" bids $54 on a quantity of 1. The auction then closes. Because Heidi has the highest bid price she definitely gets her 1 widget, and she pays $54 for it. That leaves 4 left. Both Arielle and Henry have the same bid price of $52, but Arielle asked for 3 and Henry only asked for 2. Because Arielle asked for a greater quantity, she gets 3 widgets and pays $52 each for them. That leaves 1 widget left. Henry gets the last widget and also pays $52 for it. Even though Henry requested 2 widgets he is still obligated to accept the one remaining. Poor Manny, he got outbid and has to try his luck some other time!
Closing the deal
AuctionAddict.com serves solely as the listing agent
and is not involved in the actual transaction of goods between buyers and
sellers. We would like to remind you that AuctionAddict.com is merely a venue
for online person-to-person auctions and classified advertisements
and does not act as a guarantor regarding the price or completion of such
transactions on its site. The transaction of goods is the sole responsibility of the
individual buyers and sellers.
There are several things one can do to facilitate a smooth
transaction when an auction listing closes or when an order is placed on a fixed-price item.
If you are confident that the seller is an
honest dealer, you may agree to send a personal check or cashier's check
to him or her in exchange for the goods. How can you tell if someone
is reputable? You can review
their comments file. This file holds any comments that other
users may have left about a particular user, along with a rating based upon
whether their transaction experience was positive or negative.
Users are encouraged to leave feedback about others, especially praise
if transactions went as planned. Keep in mind that AuctionAddict.com
is a new service, and hence most users comment files will be empty in the
short term. One can be more careful by choosing to send the goods
C.O.D. (cash on delivery). Federal
Express offers this service for a nominal fee. That way, the
buyer is ensured of delivery, and the seller will definitely get a payment.
The most secure form of transaction (and highly recommended by auctionaddict.com) is via an escrow service. AuctionAddict.com has formed
a partnership with IESCROW, who for a small fee will oversee the transaction
and eliminate risk. Click Here for more details
Selling
List anything and everything!
You can think of our service as a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week, garage sale.
Do you have some baseball cards that you want to get rid of? How
about that extra toaster you got for your wedding? You would be surprised
at how popular virtually anything is when it has a worldwide audience
of buyers.
Listing an item for sale is fun and easy. First,
you must become a registered
user.
Then, all you have to do is fill
out our listing form with information such as the title of your item,
the category it belongs in, a description, minimum bid price, quantity,
and days until closing. You are free to use HTML tags in the description,
and there is a place for you to add a picture of the item if you have one
available. The most successful auctioneers are the ones who set a starting
bid price lower than the supposed value of the item. This will encourage
bidders to place bids on the items, which then encourage others to counterbid (bidders like to see items that have a lot of "action" on them). Our
software automatically sets the minimum bid increase based on the bid price.
You will be assigned an item number and you can use this number to promote
your auction however you see fit. Your item will have the following
URL:
Cost
We charge absolutely NO LISTING FEES and NO COMMISSION FEES! All buyers and sellers can utilize all of our basic services at no charge. Sellers may choose to enhance the visibility of their listings by paying for optional services, such as having them appear in bold-faced print when returned from our search engine, or paying for higher search engine placement. These enhancements are completely optional, and all fees for these enhancements are detailed on our item listing page.
Payment
Sellers who have accumulated fees may pay with a check or a credit card. Checks or money orders drawn on foreign banks must include an additional US $10.00 to cover bank fees. Returned checks are subject to a $15.00 service charge. Past due accounts are subject to termination and a $5.00 reactivation fee. Auctionaddict.com reserves the right to recover costs of collection. Fees and policies are subject to change without notice
